under steer

  1. would some wider rubber help with the under steer i get on my camper ?

now it's winter and i have unloaded the 20 tones of camping gear Mrs M-B like to take camping i have been driving the camper around a lot in it's light weight state

i am finding on high speed but foot off the throttle corners the camper tends to under steer a bit

it's fine at lower speeds but just when pushing hard, 60-70 MPH on A roads

i already have some wider rubber on the back (225/75/15) and was wondering if a bit more than stock might help on the front to stop this

    anyone any ideas ?

  2. What brand tires do you have fitted?? I often find that cheap rubber just doesn't cut the mustard in the wet!!

Plus tires that are over 3 years old can start to harden too

  3. i don't remember the make of tyres but yes they are cheap ones and yeas they are around 5 years old

although when pushed hard it does under steer in the dry as well as the wet

  4. Well you could get the camber and tracking checked first... but if it's all ok, then I'd be looking at getting some decent tires on there

  5. not had the camber and tracking checked but the wear on the tyres is even

  6.
  7. Wider rubber at the back will cause understeer.

Tyre pressures also have a big effect.

  8. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Mine was chronic with under-spec tyres on the front. Tougher ones sorted it even though they were narrower.
