type 4 oil cooler seals

  1. Hi.
I have a large leak coming from the oil cooler area in my 1800 type 4 t2. Is it possible to change the seals with the engine in? Or I is it a engine out more job every time? Bearing in mind that I have a gravel drive and the bus will not fit in the garage!

You should be able to do it with engine in though you'll find it easier to remove the fan shroud rather than simply loosen it.

You sure its oil cooler seals. Have you looked at the dipstick boot between shroud and engine, these are always leaking.

  3. You'll need to drop the exhaust, and remove the fan and shroud, but you can do it with the engine in :)
