Type 4 heads

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by mrlhayes, May 12, 2013.

  1. Where are they cracked?

  2. Under the valve seat which has been pulled for bigger valve size
    Heads are trashed

  3. That's a bugger dude :(

  4. Bump !!!! Can I assume no news is good news before I commit to 400 £ on two new heads ???

  5. Yeah, sorry... They're made by AMC and they have a low compression step in the head that you might want to machine out...

But other than that, they're a good head :)

  6. If you're still after recommendations, I've got GSF heads on mine and I think they're pretty good, no dramas :)

  7. Thanks gents ... Mack where did you source GSA heads from ..????

  8. You got good results with these? I recall having problems with valve seats dropping but that was a long time ago!

  9. I pulled the seats and turned them into big valve heads, which I'm pretty sure the OP is planning on doing!! :)

I have used two type 4 GSF heads they seem to be ok

  11. When you say "GSF" does that mean you bought them from GSF?

Yes the heads i got from GSf about six months ago seem to running ok, but the price for type 4 heads are not cheap.

  13. Did you do this yourself? I've been thinking about doing it but not sure how.

  14. Until I get my machine shop set up, I use a guy near me.... You have to have the correct cutter tools to machine the head for the valve seat!!

    :)

  15. Don't suppose you have a link to a supplier of said tooling please. :)

  16. Wish I had

Give me 5 and I'll check one of the suppliers I use!!

  17. you're looking for a valve seat counterbore cutter... It's going to take a while to track down a UK supplier
