Type 4 Filler Tube

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Owen Snell, Jul 20, 2013.

  1. What is the fixing used for these? The top one on mine looks like a stud in the tube, but there's only a few threads to get the nut on, so is this actually a stud or is it a screw that has been broken and bodged using a nut?

confused? are you on about the oil filler ? they are pushed on and held in place by a spring clip.

  3. o_O lets see yours rick... Actually you're talking about the top section!!

The oil filler tube is bolted to the block, the stud on the tube only has a thin half nut on it, so that's why it looks wrong with a full nut!!

  5. I edited my post... The OP is talking about the block end

  6. So it looks wrong, but isn't wrong. No problem then!

  10. You can either fit them loose, or pop a small cable tie on each end

  11. Got a cable tie on the bottom, but not the top, new bellows. There's still a leak around this area, but it's really hard to see if it's running down from the bellows or from the filler tube gasket. From the position, I guess the oil needs draining before taking off the filler pipe to check the gasket.

  12. It certainly does need draining

  13. I used fuel line for years on the dip stick tube , but bought a bellows a couple of years ago and it's nearly goosed. Back to fuel hose with hermatite next time.
