This is a OG one from a 79 van all rust treated and 2 coats of hammerite . And price I have no idea where is it going to
I made one years ago using stainless steel sheets samdwidgeing a fire retardant blanket. Used the original heat deflection plate as a template and the hanging arms to attach to the engine and various bits of tinware. Next time I get a chance I'll post a picture.
@77 Westy Here you go Geoff. I have completed making one from scratch . Even with an authentic sticker. It seems to have .... I mean, I have spot welded two plates together with heat abosrbing material sandwiched between apparently.
@jim mcglynn You’ve made a good job of that Jim, not as good as an original but not bad at all for a cheque book restoration of a heat shield.
Very impressive. I'd love to get hold of the dimensions of the outline and do the same - don't suppose you have then do you? Pretty please!
You may know this already, but if you're searching the internet and add a space followed by site:www.thesamba.com to your enquiry all kinds of stuff comes up. There probably isn't a single nut or washer that hasn't been the subject of close scrutiny over the decades.
Heritage. I completed a 150 mile journey yesterday travelling between 60-70 mpg the whole way, ambient temperatures around 23C, and the car ran 5-10 degress cooler than normal, never went over 110C. Really surprised me as I wasn't expecting that kind of noticeable difference. Sent from my SM-N970F using Tapatalk
