    hello again,
I just bought an 1,8L 412LE engine for my van.the seller told me that it have around 60 000 miles.I want to remove the injection system and to run with dual 36IDF Weber carbs because I fell a little bit "safe" with them, than the injection system which is a complete new story(too much vacuum pipes, wires, pressure valves, electronic contacts and so on :- for me)
the IDF are simple, easy to tune them up and I have some experience with them. :p
this 1,8 L engine have 80hp and with the IDF carbs I hope to keep it running with enough power on the roads.
before ,the bus has a 1600cc AD engine with the same carbs and I know that the VW412 engine clutch is compatible with my gearbox.
Is it necessary to mount the small type 1 bearing inside of the Type 4 flywheel or i can run with it like it is now? ???
...and also to modify position or to change the starter .
I know some tricks about Type 4 into a beetle conversion but I'm completely newbie with the conversion of a type 4 engine in a type 1 bus engine :-

    Cheers

  2. You will need to do the pilot bearing conversion.... everything else is good to go as is!!

Did they put domed pistons in the car engine to up the HP at a cost to torque, I know this was the case with the 1700.

  5. pretty sure the 1800s were either dished or flat

    sooo,
    the 1,8 type 4 clutch disk doesn't fit with 1600cc gearbox.I'll use a 200mm beetle clutch disk in a 210mm type 4 clutch plate :-[
