Asking a lot of questions lately - I'll stop soon! I have an AP code engine I was looking to convert to a 2 Litre - I have a set of CJ B + P, I believe the stroke is the same on both motors - is there anything else I've missed that means incompatibility? Heads etc the same?
To bring this back from the dead.... I'm just about to get round to sorting this out over Christmas and Jan period... Now, to do a "proper" 2l conversion I need Barrels, Pistons, Rod and Crank also? But I can do a 1911cc conversion by keeping the standard 1800 bottom end and substituting 2l b+ps, is this correct? I'm not after BHPs, so if it's not going to happen without big bucks I'll keep it at 1800 but as I have the pots already I would like to chuck them in!!
no, you need 96mm B&Ps for an 1800 to convert it to 1911cc http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Barrel-Pistons-96x66-1911cc-For-1-7-1-8litre-Type-AC198970_act_shop.product_pID_55951209_lang_EN_country_GB.htm?crumbStartPage=2&crumbStartRow=18 both the 1800 and 2l use 94mm barrels... the diffence between the 2 is crank stroke, rod length, and the crown height in relation to the wrist pin on the piston...
