looks seriously good, when you say port matched are you widening the inlet ports on the head so there is no step where the manifolds join? and does this make a difference?
One thing we found with the 34 ICT's was the Empi inlet manifolds were slightly bigger on the base compared to the stock VW ones & wouldn't sit on the head correctly. We couldn't get the bus to run properly due to this oversize issue..Once filed to the same size as the gen. VW manifolds, its been superb ever since..two pumps of the throttle & it runs beautifully!
Yes and yes @chris_g That inlet manifold was an empi one and was poor straight from casting so i did some work to improve the flow through the manifold aswell as port matching it Before After
Roughly thirty? Brim it with fuel tomorrow and don't 'even try' again but this time check it properly the next time you fill up, not roughly, do it properly.
My single port averaged that on way to LP's and on the long A1 route back the new engine did same. Both brimmed to calculate, 325 miles each way.
I thought vw themselves said less than that 26 springs to mind I gave up trying to calculate mine as i was loosing so much out of the perished fuel filler rubbers
A job for next winter, bus back on the road now full service done and ready to go to dub freeze on Sunday. See if i can get a cheap exhaust there.
I won't, I know the the vintage speed exhaust i want, so looking for a deal on that. If i don't see one at the show i will probably use the vw heritage deal this weekend.
chuffin eck, we missed that one I need some pushrods n pushrod tubes..damn, there will be another for Volksworld I guess!!
Agree para but things have moved on technology-wise , electronic ignition being one of my favourites . Better quality pistons , rings , bearings etc all add up to better combustion and a smoother ride all round .
