I looked into using the old dish on my house for freesat (turned out theres still an lnb on it, never know it might just work) BUT then i thought well if i dump virgin how do i get my internet? Only way i can see to get internet is to keep virgin, but even on the cheapest internet only package it would still be £30 so its hardly worth the hassle to save £20. Is there another cheaper way to get broadband to your house?
No phone line here, we have landline but it through the virgin cable, so I assume if I get rid of virgin then I can't use their cable?
Shock horror! Just you and me then, I started a thread once to find out and don't remember anyone else TVless.
ha-ha I nearly did the @ thing and posted that for you. You can think that and I can think peeps are mugs for letting such a malevolent influence into their lives. Yes I know you watch selectively and derive much interest and education from it. I still wouldn't want one, it drove me nuts at my dad's at Christmas, was quite glad to get away from it. Vive la difference.
i'm in the same boat here, no bt line so virgin do my phone/net/tv, they subsidise one from the other and binning all but the net saves hardly anything...... when we move there's a bt line but i think it's about £15? standing charge plus internet on top? so what? £30 a month with no calls or tv? so i might have to take virgin with me.
Yeah but that's another £130 to payout, plus I would need to buy the freesat box/decoder whatever its called, then the monthly cost for the internet from whoever (£20?), this all assumes my dish is operational! Just becomes less financially attractive!
what do you have with virgin at the moment? they have tried to increase my bill again from feb - i will argue the toss as per every year and imagine i'll win again. i pay £50 all in and every year they try to put it up i play my face and they leave me alone
Same here - could have saved a fiver by starting new contract without phone and TV, but then I'd be tied in when I want to move. Don't know how that works? So I fork out just for internet, but it goes like the clappers over cable. The BT landlines here on the street are made of aluminium rather than copper and go wrong frequently due to corrosion so was good to escape BT.
why for tv if you have none? £50 is for unlimited internet at 50meg speed, xl tv package with all channels bar movies, and free evening/weekend calls, you'll find that's cheap.
We don't have a TV. If we watch anything it's on the laptop on either Netflix or iPlayer. Really changes the feel of a living room, it's no longer just a room to house a huge 40" TV. The wife's filled ours with books, I have a small corner with van crap on and a bag of knitting.
We only get basic package, phone internet and basic telly. Its near enough £50 at the mo which I only realised a couple months ago. About 2 yrs ago I threatened to leave and got it for £37 but its crept back up and I hadn't paid attention. Ps price has gone up but no benefit I see! Obviously I could complain again and reduce it but I just think ***** em, its tiresome and I've better things to do with my time. Loosely related I spent all Fri night and all sat sorting out car ins, home ins and camper ins. Wanted to shoot myself after that.
Oh yeah and now of course I'm being bombarded with calls "why don't you want our insurance" because your price was sh1t you *****ing @hailfrank ban me please!
See my post above the one you quoted, I'm stuck with it. Your deal same as mine except you're paying extra £20 for TV channels.
I pay 20 quid for phone and internet. Line installation is normally a one off £50 fee. If you have normal phone service in your area. Certainly as a new customer it is cheap to join, then Just move service each year and get their deal. Saving money takes a bit of work but it is worth it. I used quidco when I switched to talk talk and got £80 cash back and I have just upgraded to fibre (only just got it in out small town) and I am getting another £20 cash back for that as well.
