All comes down to signal strength really if your not in the outer reaches of civilisation the little jobs seem to work well.
We have a dvd / analogue tv, so the plan is to buy a freeview box and one of the ariels you mention, will we have to re- scan for channels every time we camp ?
I go away to get away from the idiot lantern but i have fitted a few The feed back i have had are the ones mounted on the widescreen are rubbish and a caravan type ones on the roof looks bad the best way i have found is a small ariel on a suction mount mounted on a window or a free standing one on a pole
I use a 6'' magmount as Rickyroo suggested but also a little booster powered by 12 volt or a couple of AA batteries. That really helps in poor signal areas where he aerial alone will not cut it. You can get then from Ebay.
when and if we take ours , we have a small digital flat screen , i use a small ariel on a pole quick clamped to my roof rack , never have any bothers , trubs with freeview box is with new 4g you might get probs now if you dont take filters ? Ive just lobbed a perfectly good 12v analogue for that reason . Must admit if your camped on your own and its a cold wet n windy morn , breaky in bed and a nice mug of coffee and bit of morn tv can be quite relaxing before your 25 mile bike ride or hike to everest base camp .
Avtex STH 3000 - absolutely brilliant . Has a plug in 12v booster which makes all the difference and holds digital channels better . I messed around for years with the cheapo `normal` stuff but found it frustrating as you`d be watching something decent and the signal would drop out . I only really use the TV when i`m out for a few days walking and it`s too miserable to sit outside ! Think i paid about 40 quid but money well spent...
