Doesn't mention the roof...

 

I'm going to put it on the roof of a small hatchback & tie it down with some thin string through the cars open windows.

 

You mad fool. No need to go to the expense of string. Just get 3 mates to hold onto it through the open windows. What could possibly go wrong.
