Yes, the Great Hall in the Uni... I'm one of those sad people who keeps old concert tickets  …. just had a look, October 1993.
Would've loved to have seen Joan Armatrading, she's fab.

  3. think they sell tix behind the bar too so let me know if there's any you want to see :)

@scrooge95 what did you think of the interview? wasn't he sweet... it's the shy, quiet long-haired boy thing *big sigh*

He was very sweet, and very natural; great piece of old film.... and he was right - the sound echoing from the hills was perfect! He wasn't a looker though was he?! Just as well he was a brilliant lyricist ;)

I stuck all mine in an album a couple of years ago, although have lost loads along the way sadly (including my first ever gig: Toyah at Poole Arts Centre on July 3rd 1983 - lost the ticket, but can still remember the date :D )
I used to go up to Exeter for gigs quite a lot - Plymouth didn't have a concert venue back then, so it was either St Austell (the colliseum?) or Exeter. Mind you, even when they did build somewhere in Plymouth it was rubbish, the acoustics are awful!!

i used to keep all gig and theatre tix/ programmes even when i started working on them but got sloppy and overwhelmed by all the paper so mine have loads of gaps. every now and then i have a cull!
saw a few bands in plymouth but mostly at the uni and somewhere on union street... i may have been drinking so memory a little hazy :D

As there's this big Neil young / Bob Dylan Hyde Park extravaganza next July, I was trying to think of a Bob track to even up the balance a bit.... as @Ermintrude already posted 'Forever Young' earlier, I'll go for this one as it's a bit of a favourite

Didn't they use that in Thelma and Louise? … a good driving song indeed - although maybe not the end driving bit ;)

  13. i love his lyrics but i'm not a big dylan fan... i think it was rich hall who said that they hail him a 'genius for playing mouth organ and guitar at the same time, but strap some cymbals on his legs and they'd call him an idiot!' :D

I know lots of dylan fans were disappointed with his live gigs.

this is my fave version of forever young https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1847384...=9046693&hvtargid=pla-563378239820&th=1&psc=1

Not heard that before, - I'm liking it
If we're briefly taking a slightly 'country' slant, is now the time to admit that the first concert I went to when they did open the Pavillions in Plymouth was... I'm not sure I can admit it.... (deep breath) Tammy Wynette!

  16. yay!

I had tickets to see chuck berry at the pavillions... a suprise birthday pressie for my boyfriend. booked them waaaay in advance and hid them.
remembered at 1am on the day, around the time chuck would've been leaving plymouth  The ex still reminds me of the greatest gig he didn't get to see to this day.

ha ha I like that quote - and it's true. His voice and the way he sings is quite divisive (although you could equally say that about Neil Young I think), but I like him. As for the gigs.... I concur, he's not the best, and he's not even got a great stage presence. I saw him about 20 years ago and he was okay, although he looked old back then; I saw him last year (or maybe the year before) and he wasn't good. But I'm secretly hoping him and Neil will appear on stage together for a song or two. And I'd go just for Neil Young.
