  1. Putting the tin ware back on and found an extra bit! Anyone got any idea where it goes? 1600 engine ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363012975.327804.jpg

  2. There should be two pieces like that i think
Let me go and see if i can find a tinware diagram

  3. i cant find a decent diagram but im pretty sure they go under the cylinder shrouds

  4. That is a piece of lower tin - it goes to the left and just below the pulley end, as you're looking at the engine from the back of the van. If you look, it bolts onto a couple of holes at the edge of the cylinder tin, and through the breastplate tin too, I think.

  5. you can just see it here in black under the orange tinware right hand side

  6. Goes here but the other side of the crank pulley:

  7. Shouldn't that be the other way around?

  8. Which bits number 38 as theres no numbering in that pic lol

Im missing all the flaps and thermostat stuff off mine

  9. no.38 is the bottom pulley nut cover...

not many people will have that, as it was mainly used on bugs or EBs

  10. It should...

right side, just the wrong way round

Wrong side, wrong way round. ;)

  12. Was just my reference pic when I took it apart. It is fitted correctly now :)

  13. right, so it goes just behind the funny little pipe that draws heat of the cylinder head on the right hand side (looking at the back of the engine) and there is only one of them and not two?
thanks for all your help dudes

  16. Yours goes on the LH side of the engine...

There is two, but by the sounds of it you only have one :)

  17. There are two - there's the equivalent on the other side, differently-shaped, as I recall.

  18. Think 38's for a Beetle.

  19. o.k will have another look and see if I can find another one!
