Timing scale for type 4 engine

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by grub, Oct 5, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

I am missing the timing scale off my 1700 engine - I can buy one off ebay for £12 + £2 P&P, but will it be as good as an orignal one - wasn't sure if it will beade of metal or pastic (I assume the orignal ones are metal?).

If it is likely to be crap, does anyone have one available?

    Cheers

The ones I've seen on peoples buses have always been plastic apparently!

  3. OG ones are plastic... I've as yet to see a metal one for a type 4 lump....

Are we talking the approx third of a circle strips with the timing scale on that fit by the pulley grill?
Think I must need my eyes testing...

  7. Cheers guys - I will order one off ebay - where the seller lives in walking distance from my house but insists on posting it (???).

  8. well i NEED a metal one ,I think alot of the US buses had metal ones

  9. Its a 20 pence bit of plastic, but a necessary one!

  10. cheers guys - just ordered one from JK - £10.50 - not sure if it's going to be plastic or metal but we'll see when it turns up (oh, and had to order a set of baby moons at the same time, just to help justify the postage costs and all!).
