I have a TES 1641cc 'red' engine in my bus. It was built around a crank case that looked a little tatty on the outside, but it's been in for about five years with no problems. That's included trips to France as well as UK camping and occasional commuting. I had to struggle a bit with inlet manifolds to get it running right with no air leaks, but that's nothing to do with TES, it's just a faff you have to go through!
Fair enough but it won`t be a `new` engine , just refurbed and new to you but got to admit a grand is cheap ...
I do have a vague memory of it. Can't remember the bus though... I have found valves that have blatantly been ground on a bench grinder, and then put in a "recon" engine.. never buy a recon engine from eBay folks...
I actually have pistons and barrels and heads for a 1600 if youre interested, super cheap as they're gathering dust Sent from my ELE-L09 using Tapatalk
It is but they must be slinging them out the door to make a profit. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking them.
Just looked at the spec for the Silver 1k engine , interesting - lots of new but `refurbished` heads . I`m presuming that means "all cracks welded up"
Most exchange heads will be cracked anyway , wonder how they get around that one ?? Our mutual engine builder acquaintance tried but failed to make an economically viable business of refurbing cracked heads but they just took too long ?? Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I would avoid TES at all costs ... just a top end rebuild on a worn bottom end will result in premature failure .. LPG is very dry and not good for engines .. the VW engine company get good press
