We're going down to Cornwall for a week in mid-July. I've never been down there, so looking for ideas of things to do. Dog friendly if possible. Already got tickets to Eden Project, as couldn't miss that!
Things you can do in Cornwall. Beach, walking , cornish pasties . Beer. Surfing or watching surfers. Tate Modern art gallery in St Ives. National Trust houses. Things that are better considered than done : Parking your bus on a steep hill in one go. Reversing half a mile back up a narrow rock cut road . Parking your bus in the quayside carpark at Padstow. Parking your bus at the Jamaica Inn near Falmouth. Not buying the Rick Stein fish and chips in Padstow. Go round the corner...
Went to Heligan years ago. Really enjoyed it - was better than the Eden Project IMO. Not sure about dog friendly but there is a camp site there I believe. We are hoping to head down in Aug. St Ives is good - they have a Tate gallery but they wont let the dog in and as with most of the toursity places the dog will not be allowed on the beach Minack theatre is impressive. lands end is a load of sh1te
Cornwall beaches are not dog friendly at this time of the year. Be prepared to pay ££ for parking everywhere you go, money grubbing B$%£@#?'s that they are! Tony
Minack theatre as mentioned(don't know about dogs there though). Make sure the seagulls don't eat you icecream.
Boooo I love the beaches but not all allow dogs some do all year, some great walks if you're into that, St Ives is lovely but gets very crowded, best beach in the world is there (imo) porthmeor under the Tate.... pPadstein pretty but again v busy. Nice ferry across the water to rock, you can take a nice walk to the church John Betjeman is buried at (again if you like a wander or old churches or poets who are dead ) Newquay is, well Newquay...good and bad. Tintagel castle up north nearer to Bude......Falmouth is nice and has national maritime Museum .....
Travaunance cove St Agnes , the pub at the sea front called The Driftwood Spars really good place ...and nice coast walks round there too ,the north coast offers more impressive walks in my opinion .
Porthleven is a nice wee harbour as well. As @Faust says North is more spectacular coastline for the most part. Woolacombe Bay and Croyde also nice. The thatch in Croyde was a great pub....not been for a few years though. Putsborough just round the corner is a great little beach, cliff top car park. Is that enough? Can you tell I like Cornwall??
Eden DONT LEAVE ANYTHING in your van the thieving bastards will bust your van while the sercuity prats drive by and do ******* all, then the police when they do recover your stuff will ask you to pay postage to get it back. Have a great day out.
