Thank God you answered - I had already packed my big coat; it was to go over my 'I Love MT' T-shirt. Do I need to take a few bottles of London's finest and a brown paper bag to drink them out of?
How about Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the mining museum? Not far away from Rotherham @CollyP Although I go to a Book Club in Rotherham I’m struggling to think of anywhere good Wentworth House I believe is quite impressive and has an interesting story.
If you`re driving up there`s a treat in store ... When you leave `The road to hell` at J 21 there`s massive letters which spell out THE NORTH , just follow signs for THE NORTH . 3 hours later you`ll be in THE NORTH If you get stuck with the lingo interpreter services are available - you have my Northern number .. As for for Rotherham , despite being in THE NORTH it`s a bit of a dump to be honest , not the cultural epi-centre you`ll be looking for . Sculpture park is good to walk off the inevitable hangover `coz the beer is nectar Drive further NORTH for half an hour and visit the metropolis of mighty Leeds . Think bright lights , dancing girls , welcoming hostelries and friendly people . Beats me why i`m living down here to be honest . Oh , hang on .... OUCH - only kidding my sweet
The collyp northern adventure starts tomorrow. Rotherham by day, Wakefield at night. I’m not sure if sunny Barnsley is sunny 24 hrs a day or whether ‘twill be dark when I drive through. Then off to Robin Hood’s bay - just because I can!
My mate rents a room out (air bnb) at the coastguards cottage, if you need somewhere to stay let me know.
Nowt wrong with Rotherham......I'm lying ( unfortunately) if you spot a fair skinned person, don't presume that they will speak English.....a Latvian / Romanian phrase book will come in handy.
Over at the Advanced Manufacturing Park there is a slight issue with a gang breaking into cars etc, there are six of them on mopeds, no helmets but all balaclavad up. Police have yet to get them
Best thing to do in Rotherham..... Get the he'll outta there!!! I believe it was built by a band of exiled Uber drivers from East Grinstead to remind them of home.
@CollyP found his guest house but was unsure about sleeping in the wardrobe ,but was being reassured by the landlady in the room above
