  3. I dont know where i stand on this to be honest

Im a big supporter of all things countryside but i also know nuclear fuel is a good future prospect
With nuclear fuel comes nuclear waste and that waste has to go somewhere and theres not many locations in the uk that have suitable geology for it

  4. The thing is the Lake District doesn't really have the proper geology either. Theres so many fault lines and the actual amount of earthquakes is amazing.

Apparently theres enough waste to fill the Albert hall 10 times over. Copeland council which Sellafield is in (and 1/2 the national park too) are the only council still saying they'll have it now.

All thats happening now is a consultation as to whether the geology is right for underground storage, its stored above ground at the moment, If or when they find it is suitable a local referendum will be held, sounds good to me, don't listen to scaremongering websites coz they have their own agendas as well

    Watch what happens...

'Lets tip all the nuclear waste in Coniston Water'
    Everyone up in arms.
'Oh, I suppose we could dump it in that disused mine shaft round the back of Hallsenna, no-one would care about that'
& no body does, but because it was 'threatened' to be dumped somewhere pretty & folk got up in arms
& started petitions and campaigned against it, they all think they got a better deal.

I refer you all to the PLFWY - the (little known) Popular Liberation Front for West Yorkshire and the
then governments mid 1980's plans to dump nuclear waste in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales.

Our local village in Crich, Derbyshire have had Rolls Royce' nuclear !@*#e dumped in an old quarry for 50 odd years..when we went to the Junior School in the mid 70's, we used to watch the workers burying 205 litre barrels in the ground with the diggers & cranes.

Funnily enough there is a water table which draining into a stream which flows down to Fritchley...about 10 years ago, people who live on the stream downwind of the old quarry have started to pass away from cancer..coincidence?

  20. I used to work next to hartlepool nuclear power station and when the nuclear waste train came past our site all the power station people were wearing radiation badges and in full hazmat style outfits. Not very reasuring when we were just in normal clothes. :(
