The Electric Camper Van

  1. Going round corners was always a bit of an issue though wasn’t it, bit like most American cars actually.

  2. I'd assumed you run your vehicles on home brewed hooch anyway?

Would be fun tho, just jump on the track and go :)

P.S. if you don't slow down at corners on the road you tend to fly off

  4. This has come as some what of a shock and may go some way to explaining the missing wing mirror and dents on my transit.

  5. Have never been convinced electric vehicles is the right or complete answer, maybe part of the answer but they also have issues and we shouldnt just take a blinkered approach and find ourselves pinning the future on the wrong answer.

I do wonder if classic vehicles have a lower inpact on the environment over there lifecycle than would be the case if cars were replaced every few years for the latest "green" model?

What about if you want to see family/friends in person and don’t all live in the same place?

Have a look at the download at the end of the link above .... This is why I've done a u turn.
Wouldn't it be better to continue with efficient diesel hybrids?
    1) R&D well on the way.
    2) Smaller batteries with a longer useful life in a vehicle giving a lower overall impact than EV packs, and lower emissions where they're needed most, in slower moving urban traffic?
    3) degree of "satisfaction" for the makers, politicians and lobbyists?

  8. But generally we've all moved around/away from our birthplace and extended families through choice, and some if us have built up quite a collection of vehicles........!

The Green party have been banging on about people's sense of entitlement to just get in a vehicle and drive where they want, when they want.

I guess the solution is managing the balance of entitlement with the realities of our predicament.

  9. I see electric cars as a novelty vehicle, only for the rich and only useful for short trips in an urban setting. Maybe the uptake of electric will take a long time until there is a charging infrastructure in place which works and reliable. Perhaps in Britain we are not yet ready for the new technology and waiting to see how it pans out.

From a manufacturing point of view electric would remain high cost and only come down when the number of units produced is high enough for a profit.

Meanwhile I think we will see more efficient petrol and diesel cars and increasing % of ethanol in fuels. Ethanol of course produces CO2 when burnt.

The scrappage of old cars scheme was a bad one in my view as many cars scrapped were still ok and not very old and new cars use a lot of materials and resources to build at a cost to the environment and the truth about Lithium battery production is coming out.

New electric cars may not have a long life and have not stood the test of time.

Yep sure did ...just push your light weight vehicle onto the circuit ..lever down your copper wires into the groove and off you go .
