The craziness of modern motors

  1. I thought that they might have continued making them in India since Tata own them, a bit like the old Golfs and Starletts in south Africa.

A company called Evolution or similar were going to make something that looked Very similar at the now closed Ford engine plant at Bridgend.

I assume they bought the tooling and presses etc. I seem to recall it was going to be a hybrid engine.

Uncertainty of the Brexit deal canned that off.

But that’s a different can of worms.

    That’s the badger!

I assumed it’s origins incorrectly, looks like it’s a standalone vehicle, that looks familiar, and not a hybrid?!

Be interesting to see how many Defender fans whose lives literally ceased on its deletion form a queue for this.

  5. From doing some reading on the net, it seems that there is a fair amount of interest from "proper" off road types.

Yeah.....not doing them down, but I bet 99.9% don't have the spare money to buy something new.

I'm not an expert with Farms, but live in a farming community now - they use those super fast tractors (the ones that can go 30mph on the road) to do all the heavy lifting, quad bikes for the small stuff and various Jap pickups for the rest.

Defenders lost their place as a farm hack a long time ago - so the main users seem to be people that use them in Chelsea and those that heavily modify them to destroy the countryside....sorry....'Green lane and legitimately traverse common heaths'.

From afar, it looked like a moan fest from people that have never bought one of those new, and never would.

It probably didn't help that the forces stopped using Defenders either

  8. Well someone just got a bargain. Mini just trailered off to it’s new home. Won on eBay for. £500. I don’t think the guy could believe his luck when he saw the quality of it for what he paid. As I suspected he has a garage and is going to do the work himself. £500 purchase, £350 for a clutch kit, not bad for a car worth £1800 back on the road.
