Because any potential buyer would know the score and I'd get next to nothing for it.

  4. I have a 2015 Nissan navara, had it from new, main dealer service. Last December the centre console stopped working to date they have quoted over 10k to fix it !!! They changed the entertainment unit then said it wasn’t that. I’ve had no fans, heating air con since December. They have finally agreed to fix it but I’ve had to hassle them all year. Will never buy a Nissan again and have no desire to use any main dealer again

  5. They've got a bad track record. The older ones used to snap in half didn't they?

Potential son in law had a Nissan automatic gearbox go £4000 later it was fixed
Apparently in USA it's a known fault and fixed for free.

  7. Have you not decided yet?

  11. Land Rover dropped the defender partly for this reason. People fix them themselves and aftermarket parts are too readily available. I have a 2013 2.2 bought from a Land Rover dealership. I was quoted £600 an axel for pads and discs. Parts cost me £105 for four discs two sets of pads and new hub gaskets and grease. £1100 over the odds for a brake service!!!! Took me about three hours. labour charges are crazy. Land Rover charge £120 ph to you and me £60 ph for warranty work to the warranty co. On a rangé rover that’s £150 ph
When you see the serving departments though they need to charge. Preston inchcape landrover have a three lane drive in/through service centre with glass a stainless steel fan dangle viewing area with free (not really) freshly ground expensive coffee.

But it’s those BMW copies, ain’t it?
I had an original cooper engine, Full janspeed exhaust, twin SU carbs,13 stud head, block bored out to 1340, in a clubman shell.

  18. Modern day Nissans are absolutely horrible. People some Times confused them with Toyota. Big mistake. Never buy a Nissan . Although a friend of mine has a early 1990 something BMW straight six Coupe. That still runs to this day with over 500,000 miles And the paint still looks good. I know he had the gearbox redid once , And Nissan is owned partially by Renault ...

  20. MK 4 Golf TDI is the way to go. We have had ours for 16+ yrs now (3yrs old when we bought it).
Serviced at a local garage and just keeps going and going, 160k on the clock and still running on the same turbo, clutch and exhaust.
Hope i've not just jinxed it!
I don't know if its because we have one that i notice but watch out for Mk4s and Audi A3s out and about with the same 1.9 diesel engines. They seem to out live the newer 2.0l engines in the MK5. There is so many of them still around and many more around than any other car from that era.
