  5. Ok for statistical purposes - I'd like to amend the question to "what % of people who have hired a bay for a holiday would ever hire one again, let alone buy one to use as a regular holiday option, excluding people on a VW camper forum who obviously like them/have them/would buy one?"

    Jeez.

  7. Right, I've had enough - I'm going home and I'm taking my ball with we.

  8. Is it your ball?

If you're excluding everyone on a camper forum you won't get any useful replies here. Try facebook. :)

Buy a good one, improve it without bling, make sure with the help of sites like this that they are improvements not expensive cosmetics, try to refurbish if you are lucky enough to have original bits. Keep on top of the maintenance and use it !
Hired one 10 years ago, tried to buy it. Searched up and down the country and eventually got the right one for me. Cost me 18k, I’ve spent 6k but...oh the joy.
Never let me down Ok ,well twice , But this was poor tyres and bling. I got rid of the bling and bliss. ...litesteer helped my dream

  18. To be honest though, Bay ownership actually gives you a sense of perspective regarding finances.

Example: Your fridge (at home) suddenly dies. Instead of griping "thats gonna cost me 250 quid", you compare it to the tiny fridge in your bus that cost 400 quid and shrug nonchalantly while thinking "bit of a bargain actually"...

I bought my first van, after driving a bay window back from Golddiggers rave night in Chippenham in the early 90’s, off my tits on shrooms.
    That did it for me.
Had 2 since, used them loads for raves, camping, moving old sheds, even work, when my work van is being mended. Fell out of love with it, just after we moved again, back in love with it now, just after lockdown started, and spending two weeks underneath it, welding!
    Probably keep it now...
