I loved both my T25's. the water cooled as I liked the look and it was my first van (head gasket did go tho) And the air cooled as it started with not too much effort by my neighbour after 7 years in a field in Spain. And it went straight thru its first UK mot when we bought it back with no problems
yeah i got a feeling head gasket has gone. Doing a compression test tomorrow finally got the thing to almost start.
With all the hassle you're having with the wbx you might as well have just shoved a 2l golf engine in on a diesel bellhousing. If headgaskets gone then you'll prob find the headstuds will snap when undoing them.
At the risk of further accusations of pendantry, there is no such thing as a T25. It's a T3, the third generation of Volkswagens popular Type 2 transporter. There was also a Volkswagen Type 3, a car in notchback/hatchback/fastback flavours and some folk are wont to call the T3, T25 in an effort to differentiate the two. These people are wrong.
I'm sure @PSG will find that exacting tidbit of Volkswagen nomenclature most heartwarming, as he lights the diesel soaked rag....

Even with a blown head gasket it should still run with those compression figures, is the auto choke working, and this will get frowned upon but have you got any easy start ?
