I was just about to post the same thing, but as I was on the back - trying to read the speedo at that speed is a little blurry, I know the needle was in the 175/180 vicinity.

  3. At least if you die at 200miles an hour you won't know anything about it. Another good thing is you won't need to negociate at the perly gates to get into heavon, you'll just burst straight through with everyone else in your slip stream, knocking the lord off his thrown shouting "Para's here"

  4. I had a Honda Blackbird a 96 carb one so unrestricted it was mad. I got close to 180 once and had more but bottled it.
Sold it and my Fire blade and have a vespa now.

  5. Ive done 180mph on my 1198. Empty M1 section one morning on way home from York. Just a one off. I dont tend to go that fast in general. Although its absurdly easy to do so.

  6. Its just so tempting when you get an empty stretch like that eh, I've not had the Busa up to those sort of heights yet, still running her in, had her 18 months and only managed 600 miles on the clock, praying for a better summer this year and some time at home to enjoy it, thats when we're not out in Wilma pootling about cloging up the country lanes lol.

Did previously have a ZX9R and had that showing 175 on a clear run, head started to catch the airflow and buffet about so bottled it and backed off lol.

I commute on my 97 Blackbird, it's just about ok for filtering, and makes the journey an adventure (mainly due to drivers texting and wandering across the road).

I find with the big bikes that a lot of use gives you better throttle control and makes you a smoother rider, when 1mm of travel equates to 10mph you don't really move your wrist much.

Fortunately I'm blessed with freak like sensitivity in my right hand and wrist...can't think why...just got the skill in my early teens and it's stayed with me...

  8. It was especially nice as I exited services onto an long straight empty motorway. I gunned it in 1st and 2nd, noticed empty everywhere behind too, so I gunned it in the rest. Quickshifting and over throttling. The 1198 has some torque on her. Head down, arse in air, front wheel skipping. Termi's shouting.

For any police reading this, I slowed down to normal soon after. Time and place, conditions and settings choices are what keep you alive. :) I wouldnt dream of doing this with traffic about.

  9. That's a serious bit of bike, I enjoy the comfy armchair sort of ride you can get on my Pan but she can get along just fine given the opportunity ;) The advantage is you can still stand up when you get off after a few hundred miles :) Just take it easy and ride safe:thumbsup:

  10. Not as big a speed as you part-time Power Rangers have achieved, but I'd like to claim the record for an automatic scooter. 113 mph on my old Piaggio X9 500.
I used to travel from East to Central London every day on the bike and loved every minute (apart from getting hit by a VW Polo and being rushed by ambo with a suspected broken neck). I was the only person in the company that enjoyed their commute. But then these big scoots come with hand warmers and on-board stereo systems as standard. For those of you that know London - my record was 19 minutes from South Woodford to Liverpool Street.

  12. Once did a ton and a bit on my old BSA A10 .....never again  besides the 70 speed limit came in not long afterwards (a good excuse). Of course one side effect of the limit was a reduction in the decapitations that took place at a local racing spot. To prove you were up to it you needed to belt down the hill get around the roundabout and back up to the cafe at the top in something like tw0 minutes. Problem was if you went into the roundabout too fast and overshot, a set of park railings were liable to jump out with unpleasent results. Never tried it there myself...pimply youth with a bog standard A10 was a nobody compared with the demi-gods with tuned Tritons, Velocette Venoms or evenVincent HRDs which were still being belted around. Then of course Mr Honda appeared on the scene with his 250 which easily outran the 650s o_O
