    The sliding kind, with winder.

We have one that is stuck and not having used one before would like to see how it works so we can see where to whack it strategically.

Nope. It doesn't move at all, though it is slightly lower at the back.

Which way do you turn the winder to open? Does it just drop down at the back and slide underneath?

  7. the hangovers have one

  8. Anti clockwise I think... mine is in bits at the mo!!

Yeah, back end drops and it slides (smoothly) back.. you'll need to get it to slide back about an inch or so, so you can get the headlining panel unclipped from the front edge... that allows you to access the bolts to remove it!!

dear mr horts i have just spent the few months converting an early westy to a sunroof van, i know all the things you need to know, however i could probably show you much quicker, DONT FORCE IT the cables will get damaged and cost £250 a pair

I haven't really tried yet, being new to me I thought I'd find the basics first. But if I cant shift it I'll give you a call :).

i think its clockwise to open, i wouldnt use the handle though pull out the handle and the little gear ( this will need to be set to the correct possition after or you will have lots of isssue) then you should be able to to push and jiggle the sunroof so the back edge drops down, when it drops down slide it back a little to access the front edge of the sunroof so you can remove the headliner. the headliner is only held to the sunroof by 5 clips at the front edge nearest the handle, pull the headliner down to release the clips( its pretty hard) once released the headliner will slide back into the roof space.

now you should be able to see the guides screwed to the sunroof that sit in the runners,
undo the 4 philips screws holding the 2 front guides on
the rear of the roof need the cables to be removed from the roof panel, slide them inwards they are delicate and if they snap they are £250 a pair. the rear guides will lift out of runners when you line them up with the cut outs about 2 inches from the back of the opening. the roof is heavier than you expect it to be.

you are finished take a bow :)

ps i have a few spares for these

You'll all be pleased to learn that I got it open today. It just needed a good whacking around the perimeter to loosen it. A few turns anticlockwise and back it went.
