Once I worked out the spec 1.2mm or whatever it is was the same as the thickness of that washer I had a minor lightbulb moment, put the washer on when the bush was getting near and use something flat to press it until it's level - you can't go too far with the washer fitted, it ends up just right.

Took it apart again and washer was well down the top bush, so I gave it another squeeze and it went together like a dream ( all be it a bad one).
Just got to sort petrol in oil problem, oil drained, filter off, rocker covers off as I’m going to do the pushrod seals and plugs out.
Going to leave it over weekend before I do anything with it.

  3. Any chance I could borrow @MorkC68 mark’s special tool?

I have some steering play and it’s not the steering box. Just ordered a new idler pin.

I have the tool back home with me, I dont mind you borrowing it.

How do we get it down to Oxford, is the TLB Courier network heading that way or, if you are in no big hurry, I can take it to Keiths?

If you forget, my " idler pin with steel sleeve" tool and hammer lives in the bus. Should be at TE by Thursday or Friday..
