  1. Hi
Is the starter the same on type 4 engines as type 1 or does anyone know the original bosh part no for 74 1800 starter motor cheers

  2. I think it's to do with the gearbox bell housing rather than the engine. I've got a 79 van and the starter works with both a type 4 and type 1 engine.

  3. Looking Vwh and jk there the same
I ll get one local £97 new if there the same

  4.
  5. I've just had the starter motor for my 1600 TP engine overhauled, and its in pristine condition with all the numbers clearly visible on the casing.
If this is the one you are after, let me know and I will send the P/N to you.

fair price, go for it, i'd still take your old one with you just to make sure all the mounting holes and electrical contacts are the same!

  13. Going to going to wait a week or two till £90 odd pounds are more free flowing
    :) as they stock them

  14. Do you know what's wrong with the old one? There's a company opposite where I work that do refurbs on starters. I could get you a price, if its fixable. Get the new one and refurb the old to keep as a spare.
