Assuming the bell housing on my 091 gearbox is from a 091 gearbox what starter motor do I need?

I believe is it a Bosch SR87, part number 091 911 023 X from what I have read. I'm having a bit of an info overload.

    Is a 091 911 023 X the same as a 091 911 023?

  2. I'm gonna keep saying this... everyone needs to stop getting hung up on 2l starters!!

after 76 is the starter you want... 1600 engines moved up to the 215mm clutch, and the overall diameter and thickness of the flywheel is the same as the 2l type 4 flywheel with the 228mm clutch

so in short, in 76 the gearbox changed to accommodate the bigger clutch (deeper bell housing) so it's actually the throw on the starter that is different.

    3 starters, pre 76, post 76, and auto ;)
