Don't listen to them they arnt that bad. It's jealousy talk. The only thing I find uncomftable is the seat position after a few hours diving its not good and as i have a stock seat covering dimpled leatherette it makes your crack sweat just a bit.
Lol Don't get me wrong.....given the choice i'd have a splittie no question, but it'd have to be fettled to drive like a bay and then you're talking about a serious cash investment which would realistically put it well out of reach......to get the one I almost bought to a standard where it drove properly and camped with a degree of comfort would have meant a sum of money that would comfortably have bought me 2 bays. Bays might have more than a touch of the uglies, but stock for stock they drive a million times better than a split
Yep I have to agree there and for camping bays are bigger too. Headroom when driving in the back wider and a bit longer. In my ideal world I would like a scooby conversion coupled up to a six speed box and kick butt brakes, mind you mine has aCSP conversion at the front and stops really well. I've got a electric power steering colum out off a combo with ecu to play with In the garage, perhaps one day I might get around to it.
If you watch all of the Shasta Snow trip videos you will find one where that jump in the video bends a splittie so the doors dont close any more . Brings on my fantasy to buy a splittie and a new engine in San Diego and drive it up the Pacific Coast Highway and then ship it back to the UK. Drove the PCH from Monterey to Los Angeles once in a hire car. Want to do it in style ...
I got my splitty looking lush then drove it & didn't like it, a few people said, change the seats, the steering & the bulkheads modify this & change that, then it should be . Ok.!!! For all the money I had spent I wanted more than , ok. So I flogged it !!!!!!
