So what's the ugliest car you had the pleasure of.

  1. I would agree with that.

  2. Was that designed by two different teams who never met?

I did actually own a beige one of these. It also had one wing in primer and I used it to go out. I was poor and the car kept me in a job. I hated it!

  5. OK - so this is the worst car I ever owned - when I was a student - it was refer red to as the Noddy car or the motorised pram

  6. 875cc of no power. repeated head gaskets due to poor cooling. RWD so it wouldn't drive on snow. It was free though. The one I the pic wasn't mine but mine was white.

  8. I drove a Trabbi as my daily for six years.
    It was a P 601S for Sonderwunsch.

  10. My first ever car was a Morris 8 saloon, but you got the tourer everybody really wanted. Lucky sod.

How much was it if you can remember? Mine cost £14 but tourers went up to almost double that - way out of my league.

My second car was a Ford Consul, but then I bought another Morris 8 for £3 and spent a year "restoring" it. It blew the back axle on the A1 and v-morris8.jpg got vandalised. That was 1967. I still miss that car.

This is what I had - not my actual car though the same colours.

  11. My car & my mate Terry messing about as usual

  12. It was a 1936 Morris 8 tourer - I paid a fellow student £12/10s for it in 1964 - it eventually fell to pieces and I got 10/- in scrap for it .

  13. A bargain, but these old bangers were worth hardly anything then. They were pretty though and don't deserve to be in this ugly thread.

My first car was one of these.
Not the prettiest car in the world but four doors, folding back seat and a full opening tailgate. Bloody marvellous for a student!

  16. I presume you would be too young to remember the convoy (sort of) of Trabants sputtering their way into West Berlin on that fateful day, accompanied by clouds of smoke.

  17. Trabbies were sold with a litre of the correct colour paint, so that you could cover the parts that had been overlooked in production, at your leisure.

  18. My dad went from a wide arched, 70's bonnet scooped mk1 escort to a....

Austin Allegro estate in harvest gold, which to make matters worse he decided to paint it and ran it in grey primer for years.

We would insist on being dropped off 3 miles from school for fear of being seen!

Bizarrely to this day both my mum and dad insist this is the best car they ever owned.

To add insult to injury when they sold it they had the police knocking on the door because it had been used in a ram raid, obviously being the tank they put through the shop window.
