Its odd that SO73 is on the certificate in the first place if it was a westifalia number even more so that it was shipped straight to the uk from the factory pic of roof
I have all the so codes here in a book. The post I put up with the so73 and stroke numbers represent the Westfalia interior model and poptop roof. They did do deals with Devon and Dormer with roof types. That is why I asked Dave if he remembers anything specific. He is good with Devon stuff. S O stand for special order in German Sonderausführung and was used on all westfalia conversions.
I did google this bit.So as you can see how it eveolved. I did know it, but can't show reference without a link. Sorry anti Google police! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Westfalia_Campers
My guess is, and it's only a guess. The double fuel was put in to allow for the extra driving involved. First to the Westy factory and then on the train to Ramsgate and train to J P Whites Devon factory for the roof. Westy interior ( Oxford ) with a Devon roof on special order.
Could have. There was a chap on here selling a malaga or Oxford ( Similar interiors) interior a while back if you want to be purist and spend a bit of dosh. I am still only guessing at the interior bit though. It is feasible and probably what happened, but it's a guess!
Of course. The previous owner could have ripped out the Westfalia interior and roof and replaced it with a Devon roof and interior.
I would be surprised the devon sticker by the m plate is a foil one that cant be removed and reused and the roof stickers are still in place
I've seen some great conversions and some terrible ones. Never seen any though where that panel has been cut out as it just wouldn't make sense?
