Yep on and off over the years, locked up completely once when I bent down to tie my daughter's shoe laces, the kids just laughed until they saw my tears , wife had to come home and load me in the back of the car and take me to the chiropractor:(

  3. I can hardly walk in the mornings! Stupidly I went and lifted a headstone yesterday, I've been bad for 3 weeks now so it wasn't the best move but it had to be done :(

    Go careful with it.
A mate of mine did his last year and is just starting to walk again, after being laid out horizontal since November.
The only thing that's got him back on his feet is a spinal block!

  5. What's a spinal block?
I've been told I may need a discetomy

  6. Yup I had L4 -and L5 go in 2001(?)

I was working in an office job at the time and struggled for 18months when I finally had an operation.

After a change of career I do plastering and building stuff now and as long as I'm careful it's all good.

It's bldy painful and I wish all the best.

Effectively its an injection into your spine that blocks the pain signals to your brain.
I don't get it to be honest. To me its masking the problem, not solving it.

  8. I agree, every time I go doc's I just leave with pills to mask not cure!!!
I'm getting so angry now tho, it's like my right leg isn't mine

  9. Has the GP referred you to a specialist yet?

I've got a condition called ankylosing spondylitis, (arthritis of the spine) I had an op which cut the nerves to my spine, they only do this as a last resort when everything else has failed, don't worry although you are in so much pain now, it will get better, rest rest and more rest is what you need, and for god sake no more lifting heavy stuff, try bags of ice wrapped in a towel,

  11. It's better when it feels like your right arm isn't yours ;)

  14. Yes, I've got an appointment with specialists next Friday!!

  15. I had to do the stone yesterday, unfortunately it's my buisness and I had to get the stone in the grave by a certain date

  16. been there done that.As the discs wear in the spine joints it leaves space for the nerve ends to get trapped resulting in mucho mucho pain

  17. Yep, I've never felt pain like this before...
I've suffered with a bad back for some years but this is different kinda pain....

  18. And this isn't helping my midlife crisis!!

My experience - make sure they know
How debilitating it is and how much it is affecting your life - then chase them until you get a MRI scan - this was the part that took the longest in getting my back upright. Bloody ages.

Well, as an Osteopath I've got a lot to say about this! (some of it about Chiropractors of course ;) )
Don't let anyone tell you its a disc until you've seen an MRI report.
There are several ways to end up in your state, and they don't need operating on.
Agree in principle about the problem of pain relief masking the problem.
Having it "crunched" wouldn't necessarily be any better though ... Usually its a dramatic short term solution that doesn't put you on any sort of road to recovery, leaving you more prone to a repeat performance.
(This is where my Osteo bias kicks in as you're much less likely to get the gung ho approach with Osteo than Chiro, although there's both types in both camps of course.
You just have to do a bit of asking around first.)
PM me Jason if you want to get some more specific assessment of it and some advice based on a more detailed description ...
