Sliding door panels fixings

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Lofty, Jun 2, 2013.

  1. What is the correct way of fixing the interior panel to do the door on a Westy. The picture below is my van and when i come to replace the panel I'd like to get it right. Currently it is held on with a few 'Christmas tree' clips but it also looks like it is pure drilled for screw fixings.
    Any thoughts or ideas ?

They were chrome push in studs similar to what you have. Same for the tailgate.

  3. Should have the same clips as the cab doors

  4. Any ideas where I can get some Zed. Usual suspects do not seem to sell anything.

Paul, if they were the same as the cab doors, would they not have to clip on through a hole but be hidden somehow under the laminate ?

Correct, they're not like the cab door ones.

  9. It depends on the panel finish... mine are the OG vinyl... but mine was a microbus, so it has cab door style ones, all new replacement panels are as per cab door ones too!! :)

So does mine but he asked about, and pictured, a Westy. :)

  12. Stick with your christmas trees! Easiest trim clips of them all...

  13. Except when you want to take them out ! :)

  14. Looked like a bit of old ply someone had fitted to me

You have no appreciation for OG Westy old ply then?

  16. TBH I've not worked on a westy for years!! Probably around 7ish

  17. I was told it was called patina when I bought it !

  18. Dirt is dirt, and rust is rust in my book ;)
