..at the moment I’m having a slight problem wigh my s/door..I really need to use some force to close it up..it wasn’t like that before despite it needs new nylon bush and a bearing (theres some up and down play in it)..anyways it always needed sort of force but usually when I pushed it in at the rear it closed without an issue..recently though I have to slam it to close..it is a pain as I’m at that age that I really need to go for a wee in the middle of night and then I strugle with the door..when I push it at the rear it goes in until theres something blocking it going furher in if you no what I mean..I’m little bit worried that one day somethings gonna break and I’ll be in trouble..It seems like that hook or rather, striker plate is on the way..yes everthings gleased, springs in place, nothing broken from what I see (I’m not in the mood to take the door off atm) and spent hours on wiggling the s/plate up and down..I am now trying to figure out this hook that supposed to go in the slot?(can’t see it)..took a pic of it yesterday..by the look of it, it’s not in the slot when the doors shut but maybe that’s how it is suppose to be?.. heres the pic

..just wonder is this correct or it needs to hook in the slot when doors shut?

It is possible that the cam on the top of the pivot bolt which is the the inner end of the U of the hinge has given up and is left behind as two pieces of metal on some campsite now.
Without that cam, the various levers fail to operate correctly and lock the U in the sticking out position as the door slides, and then lock the carriage in place and release the U hinge to let it swing just before the rear of the door goes in .
So then the door heads in early and smacks into things - chewing away the door frame and the striker plate for instance.

Its a non-cheap replacement part still available. Just one nut after you get the cover plate off.

    This^ it’s easy enough to inspect :)

  6. You're going to have to get the spanners out. As you know the door is held in alignment by three points, the lower roller bracket, the upper roller bracket and the roller/bush in the pivot hinge. Unless something has been seriously bent out of shape or a latch/catch is jammed/spring missing then it really is a case of slackening off each assembly (including the striker plates and retainer) and realigning the door by increments. There's no quick fix unfortunately. The door may open and close nicely afterwards but it may not have factory fresh shutlines or seal effectively all the way round. That's the rub with an old van.

There's plenty of info online but to save you wading through pages of stuff that may not be relevant, I suggest you start by removing the rear track cover, make yourself a brew and spend some time just looking at how each aspect works, opening and closing the door. Sorry if this sounds patronising but there's no substitute for time spent figuring it out, unless you pay someone else to do the figuring on your behalf.

If there are any other bus owners in your area, a second set of eyes and hands is always useful. Good luck with it
