I was thinking it makes for a particularly dirty knife!

lovely film though, very poignant. I love the way that the way he appears to hold the half egg at the end look like his wrapping his arm around his wife.

Lovely video, and great that you have films of your dad to remember him by. I guess that although he’s acting a part you can still see your dad in it.

I still have stuff from my dad’s that I can’t yet bring myself to throw away. I’ve got rid of a bit but think it will take some time. My dad didn’t get rid of my mums stuff for a few years,I think we had to persuade him that other people could benefit from her clothing to make it happen. Though there was still lots of her ornaments and little bits left in the house when we finally cleared it. They didn’t quite make 50 years married and he cared for her for 15 when she got Alzheimer’s. I think he got depression after her death for quite a while as he loved and missed her so much :(.

We've just seen a film "Sam & Kate".
Dustin Hoffman is the elderly Father, his Son Sam is played by ... his Son, and they meet an elderly Mother played by Sissy Spacek, and her Daughter Kate, who is played by ... her Daughter!
The fact that they're related in real life definitely shows, but my point is, apart from the Son learning about his Father after he dies, despite being close ( @Zed ) the Mother lives alone and is a hoarder (linked to her Husband leaving when the Daughter was born) ... We get to see the different effects of that on the others.
It reminded me of "The hoarder next door" life laundry series, but also got me thinking about the dynamic between my parents ... If she'd have lived alone she would have been just like that, keeping lots of HER Parents' stuff, so he had to pull in the other direction for .... sixty six years
He ended up wanting to clear the decks, but, feeling guilty about that, wanted us to do that for him
... and yes, he liked the idea that some of his work would be his "legacy"
So what does the "Jerry Springer of TLB" have to say?
"Alex, keep a couple of the key things and donate the rest. Win win."
.... but don't go unilateral. Get your siblings involved and have a clearance party :)
