Ta, we're well pleased with it. The bottom picture is the van as we first got it and the second is three years later.
Fitted my new canvas today, I took my inspiration from a couple of how too's on here & this is the end result... I didn't have any help & after zed had mentioned that he doesn't remove the roof I went for it... I do have a headache but that was when the bit of wood holding the roof up slipped the roof smashed me on the head oh & I managed to loose grip of the staple gun and it hit me straight in the eye
The bit of wood always slips when you knock it with your elbow. Hope it's not too tight matey - did mine like that and it kept popping one of the hinges shut after it got wet the first time. ...and as you'll know now, to loosen it means starting all over again. I couldn't face it and made a splint for the hinge...
Cheers, I'm hoping it will give a little especially as I keep going out and lifting the roof as I'm no longer embarrassed of it I am going to rig up a safety splint as I wouldn't want the roof dropping onto my daughter when she's sleeping up top
Mine was fine for 6 months, but it must have shunk. Looked like an identical canvas to yours. Looks really good matey. Miles better than rips and gaffa tape isn't it!
Oh my yes its transformed it completely as the old one was so dirty & I was having to renew the gaffa tape everytime I wanted to use it as it would peel away after being closed & then opened... Gaffer tape is good but with how dirty the canvas was it had trouble hanging on When I viewed the van the restorers who had been storing it for the previous owner said there was a wasps nest in it when they first got it in which he said was quite interesting when he first stood inside the van & lifted the roof
that's just like Madge our Aussie import, changed the canvas 2 years ago though. a local company measured it up and made me it. we fitted it ourselves. all for under £100
