Where we fish there used to be hundreds and I mean hundreds of hedgehogs, in the last 3 years they have almost disappeared and it’s not because we are eating them

 

Happening everywhere Baz. They're in serious decline. The charity I support, The Peterborough Hedgehog Hotel, does an amazing job fixing them up and putting them back in the wild. This is one we're feeding this year that comes into the porch to eat (we used to feed loads), meet Helen:

 

It’s such a shame, why do you think they have disappeared from our lake, there are no houses, no cars nothing just forest and friendly fishermen

 

According to PHH they have so many parasites that can kill them off but habitat loss is a big issue. People boxing in their gardens is a loss of habitat to hedgehogs too.

 

Is there anything we can do ?I’ll have a word with Derek the owner and ask him to get in touch with the PHH

They may be able to give you some advice. I think they're only on Facebook. I know if you see them during the day that's not a good thing.

There's 2 knocking about. We put some food out for the cats and that one was having a feast, till I walked out and it stopped still pretending it wasn't there
