I was going to say. Any minute a Gerry Anderson puppet will float along or Captain Kirk would come stumbling in and do his phasers to stun stance:D

  4. Mrs A is now also the proud owner of a Lego bay, but having opened the big box and laid out all the bags of bricks, she is concerned that she is missing bits... There are larger bags numbered 1 - 11, and smaller bags also 1 - 11, but no smaller bags 5 or 10. Is this what you had?

I'm not expecting a finished bus anytime soon, the Lego split screen took about five years. I'm very impressed with the speed of your build.

    Thanks

Yes, not every large bag has an accompanying small bag

We all love Lego, especially Mrs Norris. Raised on it, we were :D

I found the splitty started off very difficult as so many pieces to find the critical part. Half way through it gets easier as there are fewer parts to search. At the end it gets harder because you cant find the last part of that type.

  10. Many thanks, it's a bit more relaxed in the house now. Mrs A teaches English as an additional language at a local school, her little flock of only just speaking English children helped a bit during the difficult middle period of the build of the split screen, it now sits in pride of place in her classroom, just out of reach.

I was also brought up on Lego, just the standard bricks and a few wheels back in the day. One of the saddest things I've seen, was a few years ago on holiday, out for a walk we stopped by a house with a table in front selling bric-a-brac, including several small clear plastic bags with old Lego in. You could still see the half broken down houses and car type objects with giant battering rams attached to the front. All made in the slightly more mute coloured Lego of the 70s. It looked like someone's childhood being sold bit by bit, or brick by brick. I was tempted to buy it all and put whatever it was back together, but was swiftly moved on by the rest of the family. With hindsight, it really was a case of first-world angst, and I should get out more.

  12. I find the best way to get over Lego sentimentality is to remember the pain of my barefooted, full weight on small pieces left out by my boys.......

  17. Wonder if you could pass that louvre window off as a genuine (and rare) Westie original?

Gotta be worth £250 on Ebay :D

    Love it.
Fairly ‘modern’ for the times compared to the GPO/BT repair control centre we used in the ‘80s, a long bank of these with some extra meters and dials:

The best bit was the docket tube pneumatic thingamajig for sending jobs to the exchange floors that was something like this:

Except everything was in colour by then of course.
