Ah well, no, it's a fancy schmancy system don't you know ...
There's a mini "gutter/bracket" combo between each slate, so there's less slate per m2.
Less slate means less weight.

 

OMG - whatever next.

I’ll raise your fancy schmancy system with a Wet Lay Scantle slate roof going on where more means more - photos next week if it’s not lashing it down….

 

I'd be interested to see that ... This is the almost-tail-end-of-a-long-winded-single-handed-eco-self-build ... Got to finish before I get too decrepit to be squatting on roof slopes
