Are they the fuel breather pipes? If so is this dangerous?

    Thanks

no, they are your expansion tubes from the tank, they need to be t'd and vent to your airfilter

yes dangerous if you are fully fuelled

  4. No. As far as I know they should go into a three way connector, the third way going to the air intake the burn off excess fumes.

  5. yeah, that aint right mate.. but the solution has already been answered by the 2 above, so all is good :)

Nothing has been cut, but a length of solid pipe has been lost. There was a join on the right where it passed through a bracket that held the diagnostics socket (removed from yours). The T should be approx in the centre of the van, no doubt there's a reason for this.
In all seriousness I don't see petrol getting round the breathers, up into the vents and down again. More importantly is a low level join between the tank and the rise up the vent on the left hand pipe behind the wheel well. No doubt you read that thread!

  7. Zed,
Is this theconnector you mean up by the spare wheel?

Would the solid tube twn go into one of the holes with the red blanks on?

Are the parts that i need readily available from anywhere, possibly original? Long shot no doubt! Lol
    Thanks guys!

  8. Im also looking for the fuel filter, where the chuff is it?

The fuel filter should be under the tank outlet (near the starter).
After the T you need any pipe to the capped connector on the top which you will find is too big and needs an adapter.
The other capped connection is for your cankcase oil breather. Where is this breather connected at the moment?

  10. Should be a fuel filter near to the fuel tank outlet roughly in the area by your starter motor.

Not quick enough, Zed beat me to it.

I expect you know you've lost the sound deadening and carboard panels to hold it up. One would have had a clip riveted to it near the breather T to support the pipes.

  12. Lol dont think it got a fuel filter on at the mo then!!

  13. Then with the air box back on i have a flexi cable going to this unit

  14. The filter won't be in the engine bay but down by the gearbox

The pipe you plugged into the round thing should be plugged into the bottom of the RH air filter arm where there are a pair of connections. A pipe on the second connection then plugs into the round thing.
It's a vacuum pipe. The round thing is a vac operated flap. When it has vacuum it feeds warm air to the air filter. When it gets too warm, the thermo switch in the arm cuts off the vacuum and the air filter gets cold air. This aids cold running when you start it up.

  16. Being a bit over-dramatic there Rickster.... o_O

Fuel won't come out of them, only the slightest amount of fumes, and even then usually not enough to smell unless it's a really hot day!! :)

i belive if you had a brimmed tank and you went around a roundabout on a hot day it could expand or leak, agreed it's minimal but if the pipes are missing the risk is there, Chrisradioman had a van fire due to perished pipe behind the spare wheel well after refueling - same curcuit same risk.

  18. The fuel filter will (or should be) behind the tin near the starter as previously advised.

The two red capped unions on your air filter are for the missing bit of the vent/breather again as previously advised and the oil breather (my oil breather is the one round the back). I would definitely fix the pipe as per your first question, I smelt fumes there as I have been working in my engine bay in the cold weather over Easter, definitely needs fixing in my opinion back to original but I am not an expert.

Have a look at the attached diagram...

  19. Thanks guys! I will look into this further tomorrow, really appretiate your help :)
