I need to shot blast/ sand blast a couple of localised areas on the van to get all the grot out.

What media is the best to use and, being a tight wad, can you collect (sweep) up off the floor and reuse?

Not done this before so any pointers would be great

    Thanks

Are you using a pressurised pot or a cheap suction feed gun? You can collect your media but you may have to sieve it.

  3. Hi garnet is a good media, you can reuse it but sive it well as if you get any bits in it will block  for small areas use a bucket with the gun and tube type bigger will need a pot style hope this helps. :thinking:dont use normal sand, it might be cheap but very bad for your lungs.

  4. Not sure about pressurised or not - hoping to borrow a set up from a friend but not sure what type it is.

Need to do around rear side windows at the bottom and under the gutters to clean it up so not massive areas.

    Thanks

I have used aluminium oxide grit from machine mart, works out very expensive. If you can blag some silicon carbide grit from somewhere it is much quicker and can be used over and over until it turns to dust. It goes everywhere, so you need to try and confine it somehow, I cleaned half my garage out and sheeted it off, this makes collecting it up again easier and keeps things cleaner.

If you only have a small amount to do, do it outside and appologise to all you neighbours after.

  6. I think outside would be best - the garage is at the end of the garden.

I'II get a bag from machine mart and see how it goes.

    Thanks

  7. So I got a cheapo suction gun and some garnet media and had a little go as you do when you get new toys...

Didn't really bother with too much PPE just some googles - Jesus it really does go every where and stings your face a bit on the rebound

    Gets the crud off though.

I'm gonna rig up some tarps in the garage as suggested and maybe wear a balaclava!

    Cheers

  8. Where did you get your suction gun from?

  9. Picked it up from machine mart - vat free voucher day ;) about £15 or so

  10. wear a mask FFS... it's still not good for you even though it's not sand!!

  16. Don't buy from machine mart!!

Pick up a yellow pages and find yourself a local supplier, I got a 25kg sack from a compressor/air products supplier and only paid £9.
