I had to spend a couple of hours researching and oiling it today. Neary got away with it. lol you are right, it should have more somewhere and as none has ever dribbled out it really needs a good going over. It was looked after and used 40 hours/week until 30 years ago, then it just sat gathering dust until I used it for my interior.

He's been trying to perfect that for the last 60 years, since he was 15 in fact.

It got 15/40 mineral. Another trip out for "one thing at a time" was too much.

Great job Steve! Love that fabric (with matching tie-backs too)! ..... And of course the blue cushion finishes it off beautifully

  13. Steve, do you think a machine like yours would be able to sew some edging binding stuff onto some carpet?

I confess I didn't make or choose the scatter cushion, not sure where it came from I found it in a bin bag of "stuff". :)
The stripey stuff colours are even nicer in real life.

I don't think it does any fancy stitches if you'd need that, but I suspect it would whizz through carpet. It's now round at Bob's. It's a fairly substantial thing to move - might be quicker to take the carpet to the machine if you wanted to try it.

  16. I don't think I'll need any fancy stitches, I threw an off cut of cheap carpet down over my laminate to stop the fridge sliding about, but having giving it it's first hoovering in 3 years it could do with replacing with something a bit more thought out.

I'll see if I can get some carpet and have a word with Bob. Taa

Check you local cheapy shop / sainsbury / tesco they have all sorts maquerading as door mats, generally rubber backed and finished and cheap. They do some pretty big ones. I'm due a new one too, at £6.99 a time I wouldn't bother washing them. :D

  18. Good tip, I'll have a nose about. I use really cheap IKEA rugs by the door to keep the carpet clean, they get flung in the washing machine now and again and come up like new.

It's the large blue stuff I want to replace, it goes from the front of the bed to the edge behind the front seats, the cupboard in the corner with the red doors sits on it too.

That's quite a big bit, I forgot you had so much floor area.
