  2. Do we need a harsher deterrent for murder, assault kidnapping etc,did this guy think he could get away with it because of his job , maybe he thought I know what the police will look for and it won't be another copper.

    Easy Tiger!
Just saw something yesterday, about a 6.00 o’clock curfew on men.
I know it can’t really happen, but perhaps it’s in a certain place?

I not sure that possible punishment is at the forefront of these people's minds at the time

I know I sound like a dad now and it’s a bit of an old fashioned rhetoric, but if you take all the bobbies off the beat all types of crime goes up. Police on the beat is a thing of the past. Perhaps it should be brought back. I know it wouldn’t solve the problem but their presence would help I’m sure.

  11. I agree in some respects IF they use real coppers who don`t mind chatting with people , all we get on the streets around here are the pathetic PCSOs who get told where to go by the youff as the PCSOs have very little power and the kids know it . It`s the usual funding / manpower excuses i suppose .
As a reply to the street safety issues , the council have replaced hundreds of street lights on the side streets with LED lamps as an energy saving project . Great in theory but the lamps certainly don`t have the same coverage and being further apart there are less of them meaning massive unlit areas . Must admit to being a bit twitchy walking home in the dark on those streets , must be awful as a woman ...

  12. Sad thing is I always told both my kids if they got lost or needed help a police man was their best bet ..

  13. Apprentice compositor from age 15 to 21. The bindery was at the entrance by the clock-in. At 15 it was terrifying. By 21 it was a brilliant laugh having banter with all the ‘ladies’ of that department. And you’re spot-on about Christmas parties

I'm another who got stuck with a factory full of bawdy women as an apprentice. They saw learning to deal with/respect them as part of my education/apprenticeship... I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have put it in those words though perhaps they would have.

We have 4 pc's covering a 7 mile radius, until they were after some mushroom pickers and loads of em turned up with the helicopter following the 'hardened crims' :)
Proper embarrassed was the pc who came to check out a break in at home 1 week after the break in. Turns out he was one of the 10 or so officers chasing the young lads around the farmers field.
