Rusting exhaust

  1. Just put a new exhaust from heritage last week and already it is starting to rust with the current weather. Is there anything i could paint it with that would stop it from rusting?

  2. Link is faulty giving Page not found! (404). However the only exhausts that do not rust are stainless steel. I have one on my Mazda 3 and at 77,000 miles it still looks like brand new.
I tried all sorts go high temp paints on the exhaust box go my GT exhaust on my type 4 engine and it still ends up rusty. The chrome pipes are still shiny though.

  3. Is it a 4 into 1 or stock? 4 into 1s will start rusting straight away.

  4.
  5. Then it'll rot, even if you paint it. Doesn't matter with the manifold, but the silencer will only last a year or so, in my experience.

  6. Deffo agree re stainless steel ones , the one on mine been there 9 years according to receipts(bus owned by me 7+years) still well together ! cost 9 years ago? >supply and fit £220, full system , seems to be a worthwhile lay out, cash wise anyhow.

  7. What exhaust did you put on kegs? as I know you've got the American FI exhaust on there haven't you?
