  3. this is the cross member for the front diff centre.

note the steering rack passing through the chassis rails

This is the adaptor plate needed to support the Mitsubishi bevel box to the it uses 1 of the original steering box holes.

take not of the simplicity to mount the Mitsubishi unit compared to T3 VW

I have to weld a spacer onto the plate between it & the long bolt hole on the box & tube the chassis for the bottom bolt

This is the T3 box mounting arrangement.

From this to bumpstop brackets they will be heavily gusseted when finally located

  6. [IMG] G'day all. had another win today. The left hand axle was a worry that it may have been to long to fit due to the Commodore diff offset. Good to have it fit & have plunge.

  7. G'day all I built the steering support brace for the upper column mounts. It was the rear intrusion bar out of a Nissan plastic bumper bar.
It will be bolted through the vent frame with reinforcing outside in the air vent intake.

  8. Nice work mate:thumbsup:

  9. G'day all. I started sorting out the Tarago cable shifter to Hi Ace gearbox. With the engine set back the cables were short by about 10cms. Lengthened them with hi tensile threaded rod & a joiner. The rear section of the shifter bracket also needed extending the same amount. The rear locator bracket onto bellhousing had to be cut & shut to line cable up [IMG]

Going great guns mate. Looking good and great to see a Holden grill up there in the pickies up top. Do you get people and visitors coming in saying "Are ya nearly finished yet" and all that stuff? The sister in law was the worst I think, "What colour curtains are you having" etc etc etc. Anyway if you think you're taking too long, just go out and buy more tools, and that's what I do, then it'll be finished in no time at all. Then you get to use it. Not sure which is the best bit, rebuilding or driving them,

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, you'll be out cruising in no time at all mate.:);):)

  14. G'day all. here is the final intermediate shaft between the gearbox & transfercase. It's made up of a Hilux double cardan joint & Toyota output yoke welded to the machined flange. the Nissan flange was drilled & tapped to suit Toyota flange Along with a spacer ring to allow proper fit between the 2

  17. Good evening or day depending where you are. I don't get that many because of the size of the build & time waiting for my very good machinist to do jobs for me in between his bosses jobs

  18. I spent some time trying to find a location for the alternator. It's going to be either Shaft driven with stainless steel shaft running under the inlet manifold & the alternator bolted to the back of the engine. 2nd option is to run it of the front of the motor with a shaft I will need to trim some metal away from the crossmember for clearance around the pulley & the oil filter housing

  19. Hi and welcome...just come across your thread and thought you might like to see this pic of a 3.6 v8 shoved into a 1965 Ford Taunis transit (very similar to a bay), powering the back wheels, 3 rads and extra air cooling pipes out of the windows....did sound nice...not mine but was at a car show here in South England.
