Untrue! Nobody who is impatient would ever contemplate getting an old VW bus!

  6. Hi guys. My bus should now be tax exempt (1974) but went online yesterday to tax it and it was saying I'd still have to pay? Do I need to register it has a historic vehicle? If so, where and how? Cheers guys

  7. Yes, it's not automatic. God forbid they'd actually give you anything free easily.

The easiest way to do this is if your tax is due, go into the post office with your tax reminder and your V5. Fill in the bit of the V5 that has spaces for notifying changes (address of registered keeper, etc) and just fill in the bit about vehicle class with "historic". Then the Post Office will tax your vehicle for nowt, give you a receipt, and send off your V5 to DVLA. In a few weeks you should get a new V5 with the taxation class changed to historic. Simples!

  8. Cheers for that dude. I'll have a bash tomorrow

  10. So I paid £230 to tax my 1975 Cortina last Friday, have I been ripped off or is it tax exempt next year?

  11. I emailed this morning, and got a reply within 3 hours. Didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know, but confirmed what I did know. Does that make sense?
