  1. Now its getting a bit warmer I have been doing some work on the van (pics to follow)

I fitted a new rear boot & window seal and that seems to have stopped the leaks getting in.
Also taken out the interior to do some repairs and replace the old carpet, started to fit some dropped spindles too.
Decided to replace the old seats so they should be ready in the next month hopefully too

  2. Looks good, we have a 1972 Devon just posted on the introduce yourself page with a couple of pics. Was it easy to take out the engine? I want to check my fuel lines . It doesn't smell too bad but it's certainly noticeable when we sleep at the tank end.

  3. Welcome Stumpy, The engine is not too bad I had a friend help me take it out, I used the guide on here to swap the hidden pipes but when it was out used new r9 grade line.

Bit of rust I found once I stripped the flooring

  4. good work

  5. I bought a 1.5m length of r9 from volks bolts a month ago in preparation. Beginning to think it's not going to be enough after finding all these hidden pipe sections. I worry when taking the engine out that it won't run the same when it goes back. I'll look for that guide you say you used

  6. the non advance dizzy won't help with flat spot, but neither will a pancake air filter and non existant manifold heating...there are a lot of 32/36 haters on here, mainly because they've fitted them out of the box, changed a couple of jets, still had issues and decided they're junk....they're not....they need as much setting up on a rolling road as any other carb, and will benefit from proper pre-heated air filtration (as in what VW did originally) and good manifold heating (as in what VW did originally).....after that you have the benefit of a well proportioned carb for mixed driving styles

  7. I bought mine from ebay, cheapest place I could find, I bought 3m to replace all of the lines from tank to carbs.

  8. I managed to pick up some baby dells and sold the 32/36 on, the van it a totally different bus now. I dont know if its the exhaust or the carbs that did it.

  9. both I'd imagine....

  10. The flat spot I mention has gone completely too, I fitted one of the acusparc dizzys which I think get rid of that

  11. I started to take the carpet up and saw it was a bit wet under it so I took up the ply base and found some surface rust.

Not too bad and no holes so I cleaned it all up and put a lick of por15 over the top.

When I took the interior out I found the two rear seat belt on the arches were no longer there so I had 2 new patches welded in.

I changed the passenger front brake caliper other week because it sized and driving back home the other one went.

  12. Slow progress, but the van passed the mot and I have sourced some 5x5 ply

Two sheets fitted 4mm and 6mm
