Reserve not met..

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by lost-en-france, Jan 28, 2017.

  1. I wanna buy something , but "reserve no met" ,I have contacted seller and he does not want to share "his reserve...

    I have two questions

My bid now 6k and the bid only goes to 2235 ,because of the other bidder ,to buy this item will I need to bid "the reserve"?

if I wanted to see the reserve can I bid 50,000 and then remove bid "saying I put the wrong number"?

I have 6 id's and three have got over a 1000 feedback ,but in France I don't realy go on "the bay" so am a bit rusty...;)

  2. Tell him you'll bid the reserve if you know what is after all if someone else bids more then that's fair enough,
Of course he could lie if he thinks your to keen.If it doesn't sell make an offer afterwards

  3. Can't you just bid small amounts each time until reserve is met?

  4. No.

Only bid what you can afford to pay.

    that is the golden rule.

if you be silly and put in a bid you cannot afford and the bid is accepted, you will have to pay up.

the seller may be playing a game where the other bidder is a friend used to raise the bids.

ebay is a minefield full of dubious folks.

  5. It is one of three vans I am intrested in ,if the reserve is "out of my limit" I can concentrate on the other two...:hattip:

I asked him for the reserve and a buy it now prix ,he says no...:D

if i do that someone might guzzup me at the last minute/second ,I'd rather know ,so i can bid the reserve in the last second or leave it...

I can afford a lot more ,but it's a game...;)

  6. you are right, it is a game. but its all too easy to get carried away in a bidding war. if you want the item, then as said you could just increase your bid a small amount and see what happens. the danger is towards the end when you may get carried away in the sudden bidding rush in the last minutes.

the seller has made it clear there is no buy it now price and they will not disclose their reserve, that's the seller's strategy.

I have seen many times where a seller does this, their reserve is not met and they relist the item and lower their reserve, eventually they hope it would sell, but it may take a while.

I buy on ebay, but always stay within my budget and you win some, you lose some, that's ebay.

  7. found their reserve ,the 50,000 worked ,then we retracted it...

as you were... it's on the short list...;)

btw if they decided to do the buy it now ,he could save all the fee's (final selling price)

  8. its how I bought my camper. went to view it and got the reserve price out of him, I told him I would at least pay the reserve price and if it went higher at least he would get the minimum he was after.
I paid the reserve and a happy chap, when I went to collect it he was a bit miffed it didn't go higher, hey ho silver as I drove off in it..............bargain

When we bought our bus we simply kept increasing the maximum bid in small steps until we hit the reserve. Then eBay let us win it.

Can't see what difference buying from a dealer makes but I'd do it anyway!

  14. risk it?

Think having a proper bill of sale will impress the plod?

not "I've just bought it from a geezer in a car park"

  16. just put the details into shiply ,even though they transported my mates classic car last week and lost half of his car "on route" plus the guy who lost the back wings etc changed his insurance from up to 100,000 to a pound...

  17. anyvan.com is the other one. I have 100% feedback on both :) If I cant do it within 2 days I don't bid, people bid and say within 20 days, they then get nothing to go with it so don't bother !! I put a fair price in and do the job. Shiply add on about 17% to the listing price for themselves

  18. cheapest is 1625...pounds

    shifty £1,203
