Removal of stickers on bodywork

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by edd1e1, Sep 27, 2012.

  1. We have some very attractive flowers stickers on a bay we picked up just over a week ago and I'm keen to take them off.

There must be about 30 of them stuck to the outside of the van. A friend has suggested using a hair dryer on them then peel them off.

Just wanted to see if anyone has attempted this before and whether they have any advice for removing them in the easiest possible way!

    Any help appreciated :)

Your friend is correct. Then once the sticker is off you need to get the glue off. Then you may be left with a different shade of paint under the stickers. :)

  3. hair dryer is a pretty good idea!!

you need to warm up the adhesive so it has less "grab" on the paint...

  4. Embrace the flowers. Flowers are good!

  6. Very funkadelic YC :) Pic of Percy pasted below

Silver; hopefully there won't be too many obvious signs of different paint shades on there

  7. if you use to much heat it will leave the glue behind, then you will be needing to use something to get that off ( from experiance i use petrol ) if you get the amount of heat just right then it will leave minimal glue. if they ve been in a while there may be paint fade issues as well.
    Good Luck

  13. try gently peeling one of the smaller ones, if its really stcuk try gentle heat to loosen the glue
    peel off sticker
use auto glym tar and glue remover on any residue. the cheaper stuff isnt much good
wash then polish the paint and it will be fine

  14. Those /your flower vans/bus(s) are the coolest!

  15. wd40 is good for getting stickers and glue from windows. not sure about paintwork, but don't suppose it'll do it any harm (or will it?).

wd40 is ACE at cleaning all sorts of stuff! :)

  16. Attempted some of them today using hair dryer and then auto glym tar and adhesive remover, all worked a treat! Thanks for the advice from everyone.
