i haven't camped anywhere too remote but i have been away from the crowd on nights out in my truck , western Scotland can be pretty remote , even when you drive past Inverness you begin looking at your fuel gauge and that side is quite populated .

You will be surprised how wild the country still is you don't have to go far normally just a mile from a carpark once your out of the city

The scariest place has to be Dartmoor when the fog comes down done a few weekends walking or mountain biking

There was a place called Malcolm's point on Mull , it was pretty remote and awe inspiring , i always mean to go there with Lou in the van one day - just so as i can say " i made my point " :)

  6. we free camp all over the Dales and even a few places in the Lakes (Lakes can be awkward in peak season though), but if you take only photos and leave only footprints nobody minds most of the time!

Nahh mate more like six months, its big ol place and lots of bits of land that go nowher.

Its always a bugger when you drive to somewhere like Dunoon and the locals ask why you never took the hour long ferry from Glasgow or the like!

  11. try rough camping at Ellanabeich, 30 miles below Oban, pretty much the end of the line, a few laybys to stay in and a pub caller the Oyster bar...perfect!

Just next to work ,when I was on the desk with carlot25 ,we would 1 bell are works phone directly as it reset how long you'd been away from your desk on the managers monitor ,we once got a lock in when it flooded (3ish in the afternoon) as we ordered 8 pints as we'd been tipped off ,he let us stay

  16. Once wild camped in the Dolby forest but the lack of noise kept me awake

  17. Phew - glad I'm not the only one who loves camping but is scared of the dark!! I've always felt a bit silly about that!

  18. I still have a night light and I'm 36 :)

Thing is though I'm fine in the van or in a hotel without one (although I tend to leave the TV on in hotels!).

  19. it something I've always wanted to do but having 2 kids in the van has put me off slightly, but when travel round I always look for places which look like a cool spot to get away with it...1 day my friends it will happen...with a sea view would be good.
